Kindness Ambassadors

Why have Kindness Ambassadors?

At Grimoldby Primary School, everyone is kind and thoughtful but we want to make sure that we are spreading kindness even further and truly supporting our community and the environment. We want to empower children to create the kind of world they want to live in and help embed a culture of kindness.

How did we start?

In the Summer Term, each class nominated, then voted for two Kindness Ambassadors. They meet with Mrs Taylor every fortnight to create small 'missions' that they can carry out in their classrooms to spread kindness. This might be something as simple as saying "you're welcome" when someone has thanked them or making positive posters for their classrooms. The Kindness Ambassadors think about how they can be not only kind to others, but also be kind to the environment and importantly, be kind to themselves.

What have we done so far?

Initially, we started quite small by asking each class to think of three ways that each child could show kindness to themselves. We then shared this beautiful poem with each class to inspire them.

As a holiday mission, we asked children to be kind to the environment by doing things such as creating bug hotels. We have also spread kindness far and wide in our community. It was wonderful to give Paul Hugill MBE, from Daniel's Kitchen a selection of our Kindness Cards to give out with food parcels and meals for those in need.

In the Autumn Term, our oldest Kindness Ambassadors got to wear their Kindness badges with pride as we were part of a live Zoom meeting with other Kindness Schools. This was a fantastic opportunity to share our ideas and also listen to what other schools have planned to spread kindness in their communities. We have since held another Zoom meeting at the end of the Autumn term and gathered lots more ideas of how to spread kindness so watch this space! For Children in Need we came to school with crazy hair to support the charity and spread kindness even further.

In the Spring term, we have taken part in Random Acts of Kindness week as well as continuing to set challenges such as Easter kindness challenges. In May we also supported Mental Health Awareness week by wearing something green and going on a Wellbeing Walk in the community.

Our Kindness Ambassadors shared in Assembly what they do and how everyone can be involved to inspire others to want to become a Kindness Ambassador next year. They have also been very busy spreading Kindness to others by writing positive quotes for our visitor lanyards. We've had such wonderful feedback from these!

What next?

This term, we've continued to make people smile and spread kindness by giving out stickers and we have now introduced Kindness Nomination Boards in every classroom. Every fortnight, one person is selected from the board to receive a certificate in assembly. There have been so fabulous nominations for our wonderful adults too.

We are looking forward to our Celebration Zoom with other Kindness Schools towards the end of this term and to start planning what we are going to be doing next year.

Watch this space for VERY exciting Kindness News coming at the end of June. We will reveal all as soon as we can!!
