Kindness Ambassadors

The Kindest Pupil in the UK came to Grimoldby Primary School
We were so lucky to have Jaime and Greig from the School of Kindness, visit us to present Ava with the Kindest Pupil Award in 2025. Ava truly deserved the award and we are all so proud of her amazing achievement. When Ava left our School, she wanted to leave a lasting legacy of kindness so she has given us eight years of medals and trophies so that we can continue to award the kindest pupil every year! Thank you so much Ava.

Why have Kindness Ambassadors?
At Grimoldby Primary School, everyone is kind and thoughtful but we want to make sure that we are spreading kindness even further and truly supporting our community and the environment. We want to empower children to create the kind of world they want to live in and help embed a culture of kindness.
How did we start?
We first became involved with the School of Kindness in 2024 where each class voted for two Kindness Ambassadors. We have continued to do this, where the Ambassadors then meet with Mrs Taylor every fortnight to create small 'missions' that they can carry out in their classrooms to spread kindness. This might be something as simple as saying "you're welcome" when someone has thanked them or making positive posters for their classrooms. The Kindness Ambassadors think about how they can be not only kind to others, but also be kind to the environment and importantly, be kind to themselves. We share our work with other schools across the country through the School of Kindness via Zoom meetings each term. We are able to then magpie other ideas that we can use in our school.
What have we done so far?
Initially, we started quite small by asking each class to think of three ways that each child could show kindness to themselves. We then shared this beautiful poem with each class to inspire them.

As a holiday mission, we asked children to be kind to the environment by doing things such as creating bug hotels. We have also spread kindness far and wide in our community. We donate food to charity at Harvest and send out kindness bookmarks when we return books to the mobile Library van. There are so many kind things we do, all the time! Our Kindness Ambassadors wear their badges and lanyards with pride, being able to reward kindness when they see it with special stickers.
What next?
This term, we will reintroduce the Kindness Nomination Boards in every classroom. Every fortnight, one person is selected from the board to receive a certificate in assembly. There have been some fabulous nominations for our wonderful adults too.
